Rakhine National Conference to be held in Kyaukphyu

Rakhine National Conference will
be held in Kyaukphyu Town, Rakhine State for five days from April 27 to
May 1, for the sake of Rakhine national unity, according to official
sources.
"At the conference, we will read
research papers and discuss about the issues such as setting a national
day," said Zaw Aye Maung, an organizing committee member for the
conference, also Rakhine affairs minister for Yangon Region.
Representatives from blacklisted
organizations and individuals in exile will also join the conference,
according to the organizing committee members. They also added that they
have reached an agreement with the Union Peace Making Committee for the
representatives to be able to take part in it.
It will be mainly sponsored from funds
donated by Rakhine people, said Khine Thuka, a committee member who is
also the general secretary of Rakhine Liberation Party.
The conference will discuss six research
papers in issues such as ethnic unity, equality, peaceful survival of
Rakhine State, national security, economy, education and healthcare.
Zaw Aye Maung also added that a working
committee will be established for implementation of the decisions
reached during the conference.
Other ethnic conferences such as Mon
National Conference and Chin National Conference were already held in
the hope that they could gather facts and data to submit to a big
national conference like Pinlon in the future.
