State television showed images of inundated houses, a man walking in waist-high floodwater and people commuting by boat while the military delivered supplies to the affected area by truck and boat. Local newspapers reported the total death toll was at least 63 but the United Nations has warned that the number could rise further as relief and rescue teams struggled to reach those in need of help in remote areas. Relief teams are delivering aid to to areas of Myanmar's Rakhine State devastated by deadly flooding. Rohgh Cut (no reporter narration). ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) A death toll of 27 from flooding across Myanmar was expected to rise as rescue workers struggled on Monday to reach some of the hardest-hit and most remote inundated areas. More than 150,000 people have been affected by severe flooding after weeks of torrential monsoon rains caused rivers to over run banks and triggered landslides. Rescuers and relief teams struggled to deliver aid to the worst affected areas in the Rakhine State. Government officials say the first aid drops include food items consisting of rice, drinking water, and instand noodles. The state was battered by the remnants of Cyclone Komen that made landfall in Bangladesh on Thursday.
