The Energy Ministry has set up a war room, bringing in PTT Plc, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Bangchak Petroleum Plc and Energy Business Department to be involved in relief measures.
The war room will focus its attention on four areas - energy transportation, distribution network, dam water level monitoring and relief reports.
Energy Permanent Secretary Norkhun Sitthiphong gave an assurance that there would be no shortage of energy, given that transport could use a detour to avoid the affected area on the Asia Highway, from km 21 to km 39.
At present, 30 fuel stations in 10 provinces - Ayutthaya, Sing Buri, Chai Nat, Phichit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Prachin Buri, Uthai Thani and Angthong - are shut due to floods.
Bhumibhol Dam is now near full capacity. EGAT has been assigned to be discreet in releasing water from the Sirikit Dam, to reduce the water levels in the Nan and Yom rivers.
To date, most of the relief has come from PTT Group including 100 life support bags and gas tanks to shelters, 1,000 boats, 5,000 water pumps, and 12,000 food boxes.
