The Royal Thai Police Office has set up a crime prevention and suppression centre in Ayutthaya province, acting police chief Priewpan Damapong said on Wednesday.
Pol Gen Priewpan said the centre is supervised by Pol Maj-Gen Kamronwit Thoopkrachang, acting chief of Police Region 1.
The centre, manned by Crime Suppression Division police, is responsible for taking complaints and going on patrol to provide security for flood-hit people and prevent crime, both before and after flooding.
Pol Gen Priewpan said marine police, border patrol police, and police from Regions 2 and 7 in areas free of flooding have been redeployed in flood-ravaged Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri and Ayutthaya.
He said more boats and trucks are needed for police operations.
