Moreh: The Burmese pro-democracy icon Daw Aung San Suu Kyi may criticize India for maintaining business relationship with Burma (Myanmar), but seemingly it has no affect on New Delhi, as the Indian government had recently extended material supports to the military rulers of the neighboring country.
India presented few items like the earth moving, surface transport with various communication equipments to the Burmese authority at Tamu (Moreh) on December 05 last.
It may be mentioned that soon after her release from house arrest on November 13 in Rangoon, the Nobel laureate Suu Kyi expressed her grief that the land of Mahatma Gandhi continued business with a group of military rulers. She even expected that the largest democracy in the globe should support her movement for restoring democracy in Burma.
During a small program at Youth Club, Moreh, Indian representative Lt General NK Singh, GOC 3 Corps handed over the items, which are expected to use for rural development activities in the country.
“Lt General Singh handed over four bull dozers, two motor graders, one vehicle, three bikes, three computer sets, one generator set, six walkie talkies to Brigadier General Soe Win,†reported a local newspaper in Imphal, the capital city of Manipur.
Other dignitaries, who were present on the occasion, included Indian Ambassador to Burma Dr VS Seshadri, GOC 57 Mountain Division Major General DS Hooda, IGAR (South) Major General C Krishnan, Brigadier SK Bhanot with Brigadier General Soe Lwin, Commander North Western Command of Burma along with their sub-ordinate staff.
