Pathum Thani's ex-governor faints from stress

Former Pathum Thani Governor Pheerasak Hinmuangkao fainted on Wednesday under the weight of stress a few days after he was transferred to the post of Interior Ministry's inspector general.

His sudden transfer order was issued Monday evening.

Before that, Pheerasak had been known for working very hard to ease flooding in Pathum Thani. Since August 28, he had hardly had any rest.

The transfer order, an informed source said Wednesday, came out of the blue for him and did not give him any time to clear pending work.

Pheerasak is now being treated at the Pathum Thani Hospital. No visit was allowed so as to ensure that he has enough rest.

According to the Cabinet's resolution, Deputy Pathum Thani Governor Khajornsak Singtokul has replaced Pheerasak as the governor.

Deputy government spokesman Anusorn Iamsaard did not give details behind the reason for the transfer.

Currently, flood crisis has wreaked havoc in many parts of the country and Bangkok is apparently on the verge of succumbing too.

In a statement dated October 25, the embassy of Bangladesh said its government would provide USD1million in humanitarian relief assistance to floodhit Thais.
