In the teachings of the Lord Buddha, it is stated that a mere mortal cannot escape from growing old, or from sickness and death. This was the ultimate truth of cause and effect, which no one could overcome including Ashin U Sandimar of Akyab; Saradaw Ashin Zinananda; Saradaw Mahawira;-Shwekyin Saradaw of Withuddharon Temple, Mandalay; Depayin Saradaw; Patamya Saradaw; Kyakkalat Saradaw; Saradaw U Nandiya, Yangon; Aggamahapandita Saradaw U Sakkapala, Taungpauk Kyaung, Mandalay; all of them had returned to their original dwelling places in Devaloka (a higher realm than man). Colonel Oracle and Anagarika Dhammapala, who established the new prospering Maha Bodhi Society of India, had also passed away.
The original sponsors of the Kushinagar Temple, U Khee Zarhee and his wife, Daw Mi Chan Mra Oo, the wealthy merchant and devotees of Saradawpharagree Chandramani had also passed away after suffering an economic disaster. So also had the younger brother of U Khee Zarhee and his wife, the merchant who lived in Akyab. A devotee of Saradawpharagree, Dr. Ambedkar who was a Minister of Law in India, and had many hundreds of thousands of Buddhist followers who were at one time lower caste people of India, had also passed away.
The Most Venerable Saradawpharagree U Chandramani of Kushinagar had the necessary courage, stamina and untiring effort to rebuild Buddha's Sasana in India, and to develop it in Nepal, and to carry on teaching and practising Vipassana-Bhavana - loving kindness meditation. While doing all that, he passed away (returned to Devaloka) in Arakanese era on the Monday morning of the 11'n, the second month of Tagoo, the year 1334 (8-5-1972) in the Kushinagar Temple, India.
To all Saradawpharagree's devotees, especially in India and Nepal, the news of Saradawpharagree's death was a great blow. He could never be replaced and they could never again find such a great missionary. His death was a great loss to everyone. A total of thirty-two countries mourned his death and a total of five hundred and sixty nine telegram messages expressing deep sorrow were received.
In this book it is impossible to describe and compare our indebtedness to the Most Venerable Saradawpharagree U Chandramani with the loving kindness - Karuna and Metta - he had for us. It can only be likened to a drop in the ocean.
